In 2003, Lupe Julius founded Life Improvement For Tomorrow, Inc. or “L.I.F.T.” as it is better known, with a strong sense of personal mission: Help single mothers establish financial self-sufficiency and home ownership. Since then, Lift has trained many single parent families and individuals in their well-regarded Home-Buyers Training Program, which is now require by many lenders in our area, enabling hundreds of families to achieve financial self-sufficiency, many being able to move out of government funded housing and rental assistant programs. Lift is also working as a HUD approved counseling agency.
It was Lupe’s own life experiences which inspired her to pursue LIFT’s mission. Living in the north east In the early 1980‘s, with 3 young children, she went through a divorce. Her job at that time was not enough to carry her financial burden and there was no help with expenses. Her immediate family on the West coast of California was in no position to offer her assistance. She made the tough decision to move her children to Florida, a warmer climate where she could reduce her expenses without the burden of winter clothes for her children and heating oil.
Lupe landed a job with a nonprofit organization with programs to help integrate social services within the public schools. This was the start of her career spanning many years working in the nonprofit sector. Over time, she distinguished herself by creating program models which are still in use today in servicing homeownership and financial self-sufficiency for participating families.
“Something clicked for me”, say’s Lupe, “when I realized that my own efforts had enabled me to establish financial stability, become a home owner and gave me the ability to send my two daughters and son to college. If I could do it, then I knew that others could too.” “I looked at some of the clients that our agency had worked with and decided that I could make a big difference for them, if I simply train them in the methods that I had used, they could achieve the same successes as I have.” Lift was founded with those principals.
Lift serves low to moderate income families in Palm Beach County as well as outlying counties north and south. Our emphasis is homeownership and financial self-sufficiency. Helping Families: To move forward from government housing programs, working with renters who are ready or have few credit issues, which we help them resolve in order to get the loan preapprovals to purchase a home for the first time. Lift also works with recently displaced homeowners looking for financial re-training and credit counseling. Lift has been extremely successful and has developed programs for post purchase planning with budgeting and home maintenance being the key to growing home equity. By doing this Lift helps families become better contributors to the local community. Lift fortifies homebuyer’s self-sufficiency!
Lift’s programs help to give their clients the empowerment to successes within their lives through guidance, education, or referrals. They offer programs for credit repair, budgeting home finances, life skills, homeownership, job referral opportunities and more. Classes are providing participates with an attractive portfolio of training that lenders like to see when considering loans for home buying. Lift starts at the beginning of your journey to homeownership and walks side by side with you until you close, then goes the extra mile by helping with the question “what do we do Now that we own our home, who do we call if…”
